original and custom designs in a modern feminine style

New Year, still bad at posting

There isn’t really much else to say that the title doesn’t. I have a drafted post in the docket that I have not yet shared that I don’t think I ever will since there is nothing current in the post. Excuses abound, but it just falls back on me being too anxious that everything must look and sounds perfect before I share it.

However, I’m looking forward to teaching more classes over the coming year; including two (maybe three) coming up at Modern Domestic (sign up for my classes!) in March/April. The first class I’m going to be teaching is the Grainline Studios Thayer Jacket, of which I’ve already made two. The initial jacket I made is currently in the shop for everyone to see (sewn up in a light blue corduroy with a blue flannel plaid lining), the second one which I wear almost daily is made with raw bull denim and a faux shearling lining. In fact the few times I’ve worn another jacket this past month have been on the terribly rainy days where I really need something longer and waterproof. I’m even now considering making a third to wear this upcoming spring while the lightweight one is on display for class… However I may mix things up and try the Closet Case Patterns Sienna Maker Jacket. It looks like a quick sew since there is no lining and the various options to mix up the jacket to make it your own get me giddy with options. And when have I ever said no to making a new jacket??

Thayer | Sienna | Pietra | Palisade

The next class on the docket is going to be the Closet Case Pietra Pants. There are a dozen or so versions of this style pant out and about (I’ve already made the PaperCut Patterns Palisade Pants a couple times). I picked the Pietra Pants to teach because their pockets are a bit easier and less bulky — but all the versions out there are great starter pant pattern. Having the elastic back waistband leaves a clean looking front, while also not having you fuss with a zipper or button closure. I plan to make a couple more pairs to wear around this summer from the Robert Kaufman linen I have lying around.

Anyways all in all I’m excited for these classes and for a potential third - which I’ll leave for another post as I feel I may have the energy for one if I know exactly what I’ll talk about.

I may just be sending this out into the void, but at least I’ve done it.
